Since 2000, Ruth has been working with the National Park Service, local and state tourism offices and heritage areas. She has traveled across the United States helping parks and other visitor destinations to develop branding, marketing materials, and interpretive media. Her work for cultural, historic, and recreational sites has focused on attracting visitors and enhancing their experiences. With over 20 years of experience, Ruth is the recipient of national and international awards from The National Association of Interpretation, Graphics, Print, Graphic Design USA; Summit International Marketing Awards; and the American Advertising Federation. She has established relationships with a diverse client base including small businesses, corporations, associations, academic institutions, and the federal government.
Scott Grove has provided for the communication needs of clients in the public, private, and non-profit sectors since 1986. A former journalist and the author of hundreds of printed collateral materials, he is able to develop an approach to story-telling that engages readers, offering context and human perspective. He has developed interpretive plans for National Parks, heritage organizations and tourism offices. He also has over 20 years of experience in: strategic marketing, community partnership development, copy writing for print, radio, video, web development, media relations and video direction
David Guiney, a 40-year veteran of the National Park Service. As Director of the Harpers Ferry Center’s Interpretive Media Institute program. In 2010, David founded Interpretive Direction and has produced Visitor Experience Plans for many heritage sites including the C&O Canal National Historical Park, The National Road Museum, The Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum, The Star-Spangled Banner Flag House, the Maryland Historical Society, The Eubie Blake Jazz Center, Tolson’s Chapel, Louisiana’s Bayou County Visitor Center, Dana Biosphere Reserve in the Kingdom of Jordan, and the Ranger Museum at Yellowstone National Park. He has developed exhibits with Iondesign for the C&O Canal, the grave of Francis Scott Key, Antietam Battlefield, the Middletown, MD, Civil War interpretive plaza on the old National Road, the Museum of Forest Service History, the National Road Museum, and historic sites in Harpers Ferry, WV.
Phillip’s work in exhibit design and planning is an achievement 23 years in the making. He has designed, developed, and implemented many types of exhibitions for all types of environments including national parks, natural science museums, civil rights museums, art museums, children’s museums, and heritage and history sites. Understanding client needs and budgets, and designing creative and immersive environments around these needs and budgets, is a fundamental philosophy demonstrated in Phillip’s work.
